Course Title: Presentation Skills
Introduction
Being able to speak confidently in public is a life skill, valuable in many different situations. As a student at NJU, you are expected to make an impact in your community and whatever career you choose to pursue. This course prepares you to take on that challenge with confidence and skill. Because this is a personal development course it is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. This is a practical course based on academically rigorous standards.
We know that most people find the idea of speaking in public pretty scary – but you’ll soon discover that you really enjoy it! We’ll help you learn how to find your own unique style and, at the same time, be totally professional in handling your content.
We will share with you how to design and deliver both formal and informal presentations so that you can use your new skills on NJU courses and at academic conferences as well as at community events and on social media. We will also cover designing slides, handling questions, and projecting your voice at live events.
The sessions are interactive and involve working with others in groups, sharing ideas and insights, so that you learn from one another, building up your skills and your confidence. You’ll discover that you can engage, inspire and influence others and have an impact by communicating with greater clarity and purpose and sharing your authentic self.
